Vintage Hand Braces Ready for Restoration
Bring two pieces of woodworking history back to life with this lot of vintage carpenter’s hand braces. Their forged steel frames, wooden grips, and timeworn patina offer the character of tools that have spent decades in the workshop.
With an 8-inch sweep for high-torque boring, these traditional manual drills are suited to antique tool collectors, restoration enthusiasts, or woodworkers interested in putting classic hand-powered equipment back into service.
Lot Details
- Two vintage carpenter’s hand braces
- 8-inch sweep
- Forged steel frames
- Wooden head knobs and center handles
- Traditional chucks and ratchet mechanisms
- Sold as-is for restoration, display, or parts
Condition
Both braces are in heavily used vintage condition with substantial oxidation, surface rust, grime, scuffs, and age-related wear. The wooden components show drying and weathering but appear structurally intact. The chucks, jaws, and ratchet mechanisms will need thorough cleaning, lubrication, and servicing before functional use.
Please review every photo closely for the exact condition of both tools. This character-rich pair is best considered a full restoration project rather than ready-to-use shop equipment.
